About Mayor Reiman

Mayor Daniel J. Reiman was elected in 2002 as the youngest Mayor in the history of the Borough when he was sworn in by then Congressman Bob Menendez on January 1, 2003.

Prior to being elected Mayor, Reiman served as a Borough Councilman, a Planning Board member (1999-2003), and on various municipal committees and agencies.

Previously, Dan was employed by D.A.R.E. New Jersey (“Drug Abuse Resistance Education,” a nationally recognized 501(c3) non-profit organization) as the Director of Governmental Affairs. He has also been a small business owner in Carteret. Dan graduated from Carteret High School, and was a Bachelor of Arts candidate in Political Science and American Government at Seton Hall University and Kean College.

Currently, he is a member of the Honorary P.B.A., New Jersey State League of Municipalities, the N.J. Conference of Mayors, the Middlesex County 200 Club, the Middlesex Democratic Committee, and is Chairman of the Urban Enterprise Zone Authority. As Mayor he also serves as an ex-officio member of many boards and agencies in Carteret.Dan is a life-long resident of Carteret and resides on Carteret Avenue with his Jack Russell Terrier, “Scruffy.”
